Field service engineer Portland-Seattle

THE JOB

  • You’re responsible for installing, servicing and maintaining the equipment at our customer facilities according to the specifications. You will solve electrical, mechanical, software and sorter programming problems both at customer site, remotely by phone and  by remote access to the equipment.
  • After installing the sorting machine you give technical training and education to your client on how to set-up the machine, use it and fix first line failures. You also give advice on how to maintain the machine.
  • You share your field experiences regarding bottlenecks and how to fix them with your service and engineering colleagues
  • You’re also responsible for the administrative processing of the work performed and you write work instructions if necessary
  • You report to the service coordinator

 

YOUR PROFILE

  • Work location: Portland/Seattle area (either at customers site or home based)
  • Experience level: preferably 3-5 years of experience as (service) technician (in which experience in machinery an asset is).
  • Diploma: technical high school diploma or  GED, associates or bachelor’s degree in a comparable mechanical or electronical field or equal by experience
  • Working hours: flexible schedule in day shift (with relocation allowance)
  • Travel frequency: about 140 days/year in the field (both regional travel as international travel so passport required).
  • Languages: English (excellent). Spanish is a plus
  • PC knowledge: MS Office and Windows
  • Technical knowledge: forklift certificate and/or welding diploma is a plus Electrical troubleshooting skills required (3-phase, 1-phase power, low voltage DC). Mechanical work experience necessary. Knowledge of reading electrical and mechanical drawings desirable. Experience with optics and lasers is a positive.
  • Characteristics: communicative and client centered, analytical, problem solver, work independently, flexible and never lose your cool in stressful situations

Site manager

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

You are responsible for efficiently and effectively managing all aspects of our US plants (service hubs) to ensure that objectives are achieved within timelines and budgets and that all activities are conducted in accordance with required standards and regulations.

  • Operational excellence: in an annual goal plan you translate the overall strategy to one for your hubs and you make sure the US team executes the long term purposes. You define KPI’s and monitor them closely. You also steer the US budget and make sure we stay on track or escalate deviations. You keep management up-to-date by reporting
  • People management: you are a sounding board for all US employees since their hierarchical managers are being located in Europe. You’re a bridge builder between management in Europe and the US team
  • 24/7 service: you make sure that our 24/7 remote service system is on point. We find it very important to not only deliver high quality machines but also deliver high quality (after sales) service to our customers 
  • Client management: you maintain the service level agreements and in case of high priority issues or more complex issues you step in to get it solved. You’re in close contact with our customer experience and training manager so that you’re always up to speed about technical issues
  • Project management: you carry the end responsibility of the right outcome of all US projects and therefor keep close contact with the service manager who takes care of all the projects and is in charge of scheduling our technicians for these projects.
  • You’ll be liable for the financial approval responsibility. This means you’ll be the contact person for the banks
  • You will have a seat in our management team and report directly to the CSO and CEO

 

WHAT WE EXPECT

  • That you have 3 – 5 years of experience as a site manager or another role with end responsibility of a department, preferably in a service environment
  • That you have a flexible mindset regarding working hours due to customer service as well as timezone difference with Europe
  • That you are willing to travel to Europe 2 – 3 times a year to visit our production plants (US is only service, test & demo and sales)
  • That you thrive in a dynamic work environment with short communication lines
  • That you participate in a culture of self-management and open feedback
